How to Make Arepas: Food with Friends
Welcome to Food with Friends I’m excited to share the very first segment of Food with Friends! Food is a universal language understood by everyone, and it truly has a way of uniting people. I think cooking and eating meals with others opens up doors to understanding. Whether it’s the conversations shared over food, the memories the tastes and smells of food brings us, or the methods and recipes passed down from family, there is just something about food that brings us closer. So, I’d like to introduce you all to this series called Food with Friends, where I cook and share a meal with a friend. Afterwards, I will…

Cafes around Atlanta: White Windmill Bakery and Cafe
I’m on a mission to start a series sharing some cafes around Atlanta, mostly to find reasons to get out of my house while studying. Here’s to one that has a wide selection of drinks, bobas, coffees, teas, and delicious baked goods to fill all of your cravings while you get some work done. I visited White Windmill Bakery and Cafe located at 5881 Buford Hwy NE, Doraville, GA 30340. They also have two other locations in Duluth. Address: 5881 Buford Hwy NE, Doraville, GA 30340 For me, there are just a few certain things a cafe must meet in order for me to add it to my rotation of…

Places to Eat in Atlanta: Grana, a Southern-Style Italian Restaurant
I finally made my way over to Grana and had a great time visiting! If you’re looking to add a new spot to your list of places to eat in Atlanta, Grana should be on it. Grana serves southern-style Italian cuisine and offers the “best meatballs in Atlanta.” Places to Eat in Atlanta: Grana Address: 1835 Piedmont Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30324 It’s one of those places where the decor looks almost as good as the food. The interior of Grana has an open kitchen, a bar space, dining hall, and a mezzanine floor. They also have additional seating in their patio out in front of the restaurant and on…

Where to Eat in Washington DC: Thai Chef
Thai Chef is a restaurant inspired by the food you’d find on the streets of Bangkok. The owners, Pornnapa and Chalisa, are a mother and daughter team who’ve been bringing authentic Thai food to DC since 2017. If you are looking for a new food spot to eat at in DC, Thai Chef is one that is worth your time. While I’ve yet to have the opportunity to travel to Bangkok, I’ve always imagined it as this grand, bustling, and energetic city. I feel Thai Chef captures some of Bangkok’s liveliness. My senses awaken as soon as I walk in. The walls are painted a bright blue and accented with…

Places to Eat in DC: HalfSmoke in Shaw
Looking for great restaurant recommendations in Washington DC? Well I’m back with another suggestion on places to eat in DC. HalfSmoke is no ordinary restaurant. In addition to having a menu that will satisfy all of your cravings, it provides a fun and nostalgic experience. This is the place you go to when you are looking for a good time and to take a little trip down memory lane (especially if you grew up in the 90s or the early 2000’s). I went to celebrate a friends birthday, and we had a really fun time! The inside is spacious, and they have an outdoor seating area. They also have a…

Brunch in LA: The Exchange
Downtown Los Angeles’ the Exchange Restaurant is a colorful and vibrant restaurant. Their delicious pancakes, amazing decor, and an assortment of great selections on the menu makes the Exchange a great place to go for brunch in LA. Address: 416 W. 8th St., Los Angeles, CA 90014 I always appreciate a beautifully designed restaurant. When I visited we sat right near the window. The way the sun enters the interior makes the space feel very open. They have beautiful wood panels throughout and a collection of green window plants that brighten up the place. Because the Exchange is actually connected to the lobby of the Freehand Hotel, there is a nice…

Where to Eat in NYC: Coppelia
Chef’s Julian Medina and Louis Skibar have created a gem with Coppelia, a 24-hour Latin and Cuban Diner in Chelsea. Address: 207 W 14th St, New York, NY 10011 The interior of Coppelia has a truly energetic atmosphere. It is colored with vibrant hues and was able to give me summer vibes even in the cold New York winter. On the night I visited, they were pretty busy. They don’t take reservations, but even on a packed Saturday night, our party only waited around 20 minutes to be seated. The seating is booth style which adds a comfortable and relaxed ambiance to the place. We came for dinnertime, but they…
